Britain’s Got Talent’s Julian Smith to Play at Operation Footfall

Here’s something exciting to put on your calendar for later this month.  Operation Footfall is happening at Henley-in-Arden. Some superstar performers will be there including Britain’s Got Talent Julian Smith. You definitely won’t want to miss this. Take the whole family, there’s fun for all ages.

The market town of Henley in Arden is holding its inaugural Henley Music and Arts Festival, August Bank Holiday 2013 from Friday 23rd August to Monday 26th August.  The Festival is part of the Warwickshire County Council’s Scheme ‘Operation Footfall’ which has been set up and funded by the County Council to attract visitors to Henley and boost the local economy.

The Festival will feature all types of music including Rock, Pop, Jazz, Country and also a Tea Dance for more mature residents featuring the Alan Warner band.  There will also be buskers in the town and, in the Jubilee Gardens, on Sunday 25th August, there will be a Special Family day featuring The Celtic Clan, The Millennium Eagle Jazz Band, and a clown to amuse the children.

Overall, the festival will feature 45 performances over the four days from artists including Julian Smith, the saxophone player from ITV’s I’ve Got Talent, Andy Bennett from Birmingham-based band Ocean Colour Scene, Keith James with his tribute to local legend Nick Drake and local musicians Joe Cope, Amy Jones and Izzie Glen.

Two celebrities will open the festival; Birmingham’s own rock superstar Bev Bevan of ELO and the very popular Midlands comedian Malcolm Stent.  Also attending the opening will be The Town Crier, the High Bailiff of Henley, the Chairman of the Parish Council and County Councillor Mike Perry.   The festival launch will be on Friday 23 August at 4.45pm at the Costa Coffee shop in the High Street, Henley in Arden.  This is where the first artist Tony Skeggs singer/guitarist will perform at 5.00pm.

The festival programme has been designed to appeal to all age groups and every venue will have free admission.  There are hopes that it will be a major success and become a regular Bank Holiday feature in the years ahead for local residents and surrounding areas.
