Any day now the jungle will be invaded with a new cohort of I’m a Celebrity contestants as preparations for the 2013 series of ITV’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! continue.
So this is it, the 2013 series of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here is achingly close to starting and we are still none the wiser about who is going into the jungle this year. Many many celebrity names have been banded about from some lesser known celebrities to huge world famous names such as Kim Kardashian. (We think this unlikely since she has a new baby and if you have ever seen the episode of Keeping up with the Kardashians where she is confronted with a spider you’ll know what we mean!)
But there are not only spiders to worry about. Celebrities will have to battle against the elements of the Australian outback not only sleeping rough in the jungle but also dealing with makeshift washing and toilet facilities, limited food rations and other dangerous and possibly deadly creatures such as snakes. Of course there is also the bush tucker trials which are a brilliant and cruel way of identifying who is and who is not cut out for jungle life. It seems sometimes that the trials have managed to tap into the worst nightmares of the jungle dwelling celebrities and then make them become a reality! It is of course the general public that gets to pick each week which unfortunate celebrity will have to face the trials so it’s important for them to be at their most wonderfully entertaining, humble, kind and funny otherwise their time in the jungle can be made pretty awful!
Over the years we have seen some pretty amazing moments in the jungle, so we ask can this year’s celebrities possibly compete? Most talked about moments include the outrage caused by last year’s Tory MP Nadine Dorries, or the controversy and sometimes sheer abhorrence of ‘Dr’ Gilliam McKeith? Is it possible for anyone to whine quite as much as that one from All Saints? Will love blossom the same way it did for Peter Andre and Katie Price? Will anyone be quite as gobby as the opinionated Loose Women presenter Janet Street Porter? Will anyone pull on our heart strings quite like the cutie Dougie Poynter from boy band McFly?
The prestigious title of King or Queen of the jungle has also been awarded to a range of celebrities (some loved some hated) in the past. For example when Kerry Katona emerged victorious from the bushes she was adored by the nation. Was it the crown that became too much to bear that led to her notorious fall from grace?
All we know is that the start date is imminent. The trailer has been released seeing cheeky chappie presenting duo Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly return to the jungle with the promise of even tougher challenges for the celebrity contestants this year. Sunday the 17th November is the post popular guess for the start date thus far, and ITV insiders have promised the date will be released this week. Surely then the celebrity names will follow. No one has been confirmed as of yet but with names from almost every member of the cast of The Only Way is Essex to Westlife singer Kian Egan to Coronation Street actor Michael Le Vell the excitement is mounting so watch this space!
