There Won’t Be a Series 5 of Whitechapel

ITV has made a final decision: there won’t be a series 5 of Whitechapel. ITV has given Whitechapel the axe after only 4 seasons. ITV has not stated the reasons why it’s cutting the series but it could be due to lackluster viewing trends.  The series has had its day.


The show stars Penry-Jones, Phil Davis and Steve Pemberton as members of a Police squad investigating crimes inspired by legends of the East End.

Produced by Carnival Films for ITV and has been a huge hit both in the UK and internationally, including in the US where it airs on BBC America.

However the former Spooks star last night told fans on Twitter: ”Sorry to be the bearer of bad news everyone but ITV don’t want any more Whitechapel. No not joking I am afraid.”

The actor is due to return to BBC One in a third series of legal drama Silk and hinted that he an “amazing” project coming up

Well, there won’t be a series 5 of Whitechapel; how do you feel about that? Were you a fan? Do you think the show should continue? I wasn’t an avid fan myself so I won’t miss it but I believe many will. There are many other drama series I felt were much more captivating than Whitechapel. But that’s just my opinion of course.
