Simon Cowell accused of fixing audition for Labrinth brother

Simon Cowell

Simon Cowell is blamed for arranging the audition of Labrinth’s brother, who performed on Britain’s Got Talent and made it through the next round. Labrinth is a Cowell protégé, so no wonder the accusations sparked immediately.

Joshua McKenzie, brother of singer Labrinth, has said that Cowell’s research team invited him to audition for the show, but insisting that the music mogul doesn’t know who the contestant is. Joshua, a drummer-come-DJ has been to the auditions held at the London Palladium.

When he was on stage Simon Cowell asked him to share ‘something interesting about himself’ and 27 years old Joshua McKenzie said his brother is the hitmaker Labrinth, without any hesitations.  He said about his brother: I like the fact I have to chase him, and he also admitted that he isn’t jealous of the career Syco build for him.  Simon Cowell replied:  That’s the way I would feel. You want your family to do well, just not as well as you. Joshua’s audition went really well, and he managed to impress judges Amanda Holden and Aleshia Dixon, who started to dance. Amanda joked:  You’ve got me going…It’s that or the menopause.

The people involved in the show insist that Cowell had no idea who McKenzie was and had nothing to do with his participation in the show. A source declared: Simon was astonished to find out he was Labrinth’s brother – as the crew had been when they first found out… Joshua is determined to make it on his own merit, and not as the result of his brother’s success.

Simon Cowell faced this kind of accusations before, when a blog said that he was secretly managing a 12 years-old contestant named Ronan Parke, before he participated on the series.
