Will ITV revive Stars in Their Eyes with Matthew Kelly? ITV bosses are planning a new Saturday night show that a cross between The X Factor and Stars In Their Eyes called Your Face Sounds Familiar.
The Sun reported that Your Face Sounds Familiar will feature seven celebrities impersonating different music stars.
Judges will award them points for their performance, while the public will vote for the winner of the six-week series, due to air this summer.
The same celebrities will feature every week, but have to take on a different pop star, not always of their choosing, on each show. (Source: The Sun)
According to a report in The Sun, ITV plan a new take on Stars In Their Eyes for Saturday nights.
The hugely popular show, most memorably hosted by Matthew Kelly, ran from 1990-2006. Its catchphrase (“Tonight, Matthew, I’m going to be…”) remains an oft-quoted favourite.
But now it’s said Spanish vehicle Your Face Sounds Familiar will air in the summer on Saturdays. It’s pitched as a Stars In Their Eyes and X Factor hybrid.
The format sees celebrities impersonate different music stars over on-going weeks. Just as with so many of today’s talent shows, a panel of judges will give assess the performances and then the viewing public will vote for the winner.
Although Your Face Sounds Familiar will feature the same celebrities, they must impersonate a different pop star each week.
The show is made by Endemol, the production company behind the likes of Big Brother, The Million Pound Drop Live and Deal Or No Deal.
