This Morning will be a half-hour shorter, but the day will still be 24 hours long. Of course I’m talking about ITV’s This Morning show. The change will take place November 12, one week after Fern Britton starts as the new presenter of the popular daytime show.
TV is reducing the running time of its daytime show This Morning by a quarter, it was revealed today.
The cut of 30 minutes to the length of the breakfast show will be made as new presenter Fern Britton takes over as presenter.
An ITV spokesman denied the measure was related to the show’s falling ratings since presenters Richard Madeley and Judy Finnegan left for a lucrative Channel 4 deal.
He said: “This is a temporary measure. The length of the programme does fluctuate from time to time.”
The cut will take effect from November 12 – one week after Britton takes the helm.
A spokesman for This Morning said: “The length of the programme has always varied but more often than not it has been a 90 minute show.”
The programme will air from 10.30 to 12.00 and be followed by the gameshow The Biggest Game in Town, currently showing at 13.40.
Model Twiggy was axed from the show just a month into her contract when the series returned from its summer break.
Britton is now set to alternate her appearances with the other presenters John Leslie and Coleen Nolan.
