We finally have a winner for this year’s X-Factor Celebrity! After several gruelling weeks, ex-The Only Way is Essex Megan McKenna has come out victorious. Her prize for being the best performer is a record contract with Simon Cowell’s contract label. Former winners include Little Mix and Leona Lewis, so winning the show can certainly propel contestants to superstardom.
Megan did have a bit of musical history before starting the show. She used her reality TV fame to organise her own series There’s Something About Megan. The show focused on her travelling to Nashville to start a career in country music. Her debut single which came from the show High Hell Shoes topped at number 43 on the UK charts
She’ll be hoping to do even better with the music produced under her new contract. X-Factor winners typically vie for the top spot in the UK charts around Christmas. With the fan base that Megan has behind her already, she can expect to really make her mark on the charts.
Judge Louis Walsh will be satisfied with the final result, with Megan being his contestant. He’s been backing her throughout and will be pleased to have come out on top, with his last win coming all the way back in 2015.
There were three other finalists who lost out to Megan. Identical twins Max & Harvey, Jenny Ryan from quiz show The Chase and girl band V5 all came close to the coveted prize. Although Megan seemed like the favourite throughout, Jenny probably ran her closest to the finish line.
Jenny’s choice of song for the final was It Must Have Been Love by pop group Roxette from Sweden.
We’ve not heard any original music from Megan throughout the show, and can now look forward to her dropping some of her own tracks in the next few weeks.
