Laura Whitmore wants back into the jungle

Laura Whitmore has declared that she would love to host another series of the I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! NOW! spin-off. She has been the host of the ITV2 show for two years, but she isn’t officially back in her position for the third series, but says things are ‘looking good’.  Also Laura insists that she is not rushing to replace Olly Murs at hosting Xtra Factor, because she can’t let go of her jungle show yet.

I miss Australia — the last series of I’m A Celebrity was brilliant. I definitely want to go back this year and things are looking good at the moment. I saw Ant and Dec and the producers recently, and we were all reminiscing. Because you see the same people all the time out there it becomes like a family, Laura said in a recent interview.

Laura also shared some insights on who she would like to see on the show:  I’ve heard a few times that Gazza could be on the show so maybe he will. That will definitely get column inches, as I’m sure he’ll be pretty controversial. I don’t know how nice he’ll be or how good at challenges, but I’d like to see him in there.

The Irish MTV Europe star has been sent to Australia to take over the spin-off show after Caroline Flack left to host The Xtra Factor, in 2011. But she won’t do the same as her, saying she has no intention of taking Olly’s place: I get asked about X Factor quite a lot, but I just want to get back to Australia at the moment — I don’t think I’m ready to give that up just yet. I saw Olly this week and I told him I’ll be sad to see him leave, but he feels his music is doing so well that he can’t [stay]. As far as I know Caroline is doing it again, which is good because she’s brilliant at it.

Laura has been linked to One Direction’s Niall Horan, but she set the record straight, talking about their friendship. The One Direction boys are never in one place long enough to party. I know Niall because he’s a friend of a friend from my hometown, and when he’s in town he likes a bit of normality so he hangs out with the Irish crew. We’re not going out — I knocked that rumour on the head straight away — but you can see how quickly things build up, Laura said.

Laura also recalled some of her experience from the BRITs night, when she was in charge of covering the awards for ITV2: That was a really big night. I was hosting with Rizzle Kicks — who I love to bits — and we had that backstage crazy carnage going on. At one point at the Universal after party I was in the DJ booth with Mumford and Sons, Taylor Swift, Carey Mulligan and James Cordon. That was fun.

Also, Laura has said that she is no longer a party girl, recently quitting drinking alcohol so she can focus on her work. Most of the events I’ve been pictured at have been for work, and I wasn’t even drinking. I had to give up alcohol recently because I was working too hard. My job has to come first. Especially during Fashion Week, you could go to these things and drink to your heart’s content, but you wouldn’t be able to get up the next day. That said, I had Paddy’s Day in New York and that was another thing. It’s about balance.
