That’s right the much loved I’m A Celebrity…Get Me out of Here! ITV series is over for another year.
Well it was a great month for television wasn’t it? With the X Factor hotting up, Strictly Come Dancing coming to an end and the brilliant I’m A Celebrity…Get Me out of Here thoroughly entertaining us from start to finish. We can’t quite believe its over –it all happened so fast!
It was another fantastic series in the jungle this year, with the celebrities chosen proving to be as weird, wonderful and entertaining as ever. We stayed glued to our screens throughout the tears and tantrums, potential romances, blossoming friendships and of course the gruesome bushtucker trials. It is with a heavy heart that we watched the final, knowing the I’m A Celebrity…Get me out of Here! was over for another year, and the cheeky faces of presenting duo Ant and Dec would be greatly missed.
However let us not dwell and instead look back at this series with fondness. The final episode revealed that ex Westlife singer Kian Egan was the most popular celebrity on this years show. He came out of the jungle victorious, beating surprise runner up, fashion designer David Emmanuel in the shows final, and was rightly crowned 2013 King of the jungle.
Egan, ever gracious turned to thank his fellow celebrity jungle dwellers and deemed every single one of them a winner. He said:
“It’s been such a team effort. Everybody in here is a king and queen. It was probably one of the best three weeks of my life.”
However it seems the affection was returned. Egan certainly proved to be one of the most popular members of the camp with his genuine kindness to fellow members and generally managing to keep a positive attitude even when times got tough. David Emmanual had nothing but good things to say about Egan. When he came out he described Egan as “a great guy ‘ and commented that ‘he thoroughly deserves it.
The two finalists obviously had developed a great bond in the jungle as Egan returned the complimens saying to Emmanual: “You’ve come in here and outlasted everyone else and that’s because you are a good guy and people vote for nice people.”
It seems that most of the celebrities enjoyed their time in the jungle. Both Kian and David praising the experience as one of the highlights of their lives. David Emmanual, who designed Princess Diana’s wedding dress was full of praise for the show. He had initially said when he arrived in the jungle that if he could beat prostate cancer, he could handle himself in the jungle, and he proved himself to be a very game contestant despite commenting that the fish eye he was given to eat in the final bushtucker trial was “probably the worst thing I’ve ever encountered”.
Joey Essex had been tipped to win the show from the outset, being one of the most currently popular celebrities that entered the jungle. Essex, with over two million twitter followers was expected to drum up enough support hat he would easily snap up the title, however instead he was voted several times by the public to take part in the bush tucker trails, in which he did surprisingly well.
The Westlife singer commented that he never expected to beat Essex and was ‘absolutely gobsmacked’ that he was chosen to be the winner.
The final episode was clearly popular with audiences at home, beating both X Factor and Strictly in terms of viewing figures with a whopping 11.5 million viewers tuning in at it’s highest point.
Well congratulations Kian, we think you fully deserve it. Is it too early to start the countdown to next years show?
