Good Morning Britain’s Susanna Reid has no qualms about working to make the show the best morning show Britain has ever had. Her enthusiasm, combined with her charming personality, promise to give ITV exactly what it wants — a resurrected morning show everyone in Britain will watch.
Susanna Reid has dismissed talk of the “curse of Strictly” and said she is confident that her on-screen chemistry with her new co-stars on ITV will win over audiences.
Reid’s £1 million deal to host Good Morning Britain — ITV’s replacement for the troubled Daybreak — has confirmed her status as one of television’s hottest properties.
The ambitious former BBC presenter insisted that she can arrest the decline in ITV’s breakfast audience, despite the previous failures of Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley, Kate Garraway, Aled Jones and Lorraine Kelly.
Asked by Radio Times if she had any nerves following her high-profile defection from BBC Breakfast to take on the most-difficult presenting job in early morning television, she replied: “No. I don’t dread anything.”
Reid said she agreed the deal with ITV so that she could build on the success she enjoyed at the BBC, which culminated in her runner-up spot on Strictly Come Dancing.
“When you have done Strictly live on a Saturday night in front of millions, I’ll never be that nervous again,” she said.
