Girls Aloud announce split after Liverpool gig

The girls announced on Twitter that this is the end for them, minutes after they finished their last concert of the reunion tour. Their official statement read:

Dear Alouders, we just want to say from the bottom of our hearts Thank you!! This tour has been an amazing experience and the perfect chance to say thank you for being on this journey with us through a decade. It has far exceeded any of our dreams and we hope we are forever your inspiration and reminder that dreams really do glitter!! Your love and support will stay with us forever but we have now come to the end of our incredible time together. Love you lots.

The last moments of the Liverpool concert were really emotional for the girls, as they all got teary and hugged each other on stage, for the last time. Cheryl Cole already posted a few mysterious messages on  Twitter, hinting at the split: Last show !!! When did that happen??! It was just 5 minutes ago we were starting rehearsals! Feel like I’ve been in a time machine

To the people that haven’t been able to make it, for whatever reason, we feel your support regardless and have done for 10 yrs.

Followed by a luxurious wrap party, the girls and their guests celebrated ten years of career. It was revealed at the party that the girls have made the decision to split this week because they are ready to discover new things and start their families.

An inside source declared:  They feel like now is the right time to bail out. They know they can’t be on tour and wearing the outfits they wear on stage when they’re mothers.

Cheryl was stunning as usual, wearing a white figure-hugging dress, joined by her mother, Joan. Sarah Harding was in total contrast with Cheryl opting for a classy, elegant black dress. Nicola was sporting a mini black and white frock and Kimberley chose a very skin baring dress with a psychedelic print.

Nadine Coyle was not in the mood to do a red carpet entrance and chose to  sneak into the party through the back of the restaurant, probably because she is the only one who didn’t want this to come to an end.

Nadine posted on her personal Twitter accound that the band would not split if she had it her way. You should know by now I had no part in any of this split business. I couldn’t stop them. I had the best time & want to keep going. Xxxx, she said.  Nadine anticipates that she will be a wreck, while reflecting on the bands success over the last ten years:

I have seen many of you at the tour work as hard as us!

That is why I cried last night on stage & probably tonight again.

Not sad, happy … Happy tears. I cannot thank you enough. I love seeing all your faces. Ok more tears. I love you all forever. Xxxxx NC, she tweeted.

The girls hold hands and danced in their own circle towards the end of the night. The party ended at 6 in the morning in the hotel bar.

The group was formed after the girls participated in the reality TV show Popstars: The Rivals, in 2002, and they quickly became the UK bestselling girl group of the century. They had 22 consecutive top 11 singles , including four no.1s.  The girls took a break in 2009 from the band to focus on solo projects and released a greatest hits album in 2012. Their reunion tour marked the tenth anniversary of Girls Aloud.

Cheryl Cole has three albums released so far, and she became one of Britain’s favourite singers. Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh also had released solo material. Walsh has made it to the finals of Strictly Come Dancing in 2012, while Sarah Harding has started an acting career, starring in movies like Bad Day and St Trinian 2: The Legend of Fritton’s Gold. Cheryl Cole was a judge for X Factor.
