5 tips for getting the best Amazon Prime Day (UK) deals 2019

With hundreds of thousands of deals about to hit Amazon it’s easy to get lost in all the hype and end up with nothing — or a load of tat. Amazon Prime Day 2019 hits the UK full-on 15th & 16th July with massive sales.

The Echo Dot is LESS THAN half price at just £22.00…and there are hundreds of other savings to be had on Monday 15th July and Tuesday 16th July.

But how can you get the most out of Amazon Prime Day and avoid over-spending? What’s the best advice for getting big savings? Here are our top 5 tips and tricks for getting the most from Amazon Prime Day:

  1. Become an Amazon Prime member

This may be obvious to some, but you need to be an Amazon Prime member to qualify for Prime Day deals (even a free trial works). If you’re not already a member, it’s one of the best deals on the internet – free UK shipping (mostly next-day) on hundreds of thousands of products alongside many other benefits. You can get a Free 30-day trial here…and this is the best time to buy because in the run up to Prime, they give you £20 off your membership fee

….and yes, if you are on the free trial you will be entitled to purchase any of the special Prime Day deals with free shipping to the UK (or Ireland).

  2. Make a wish list for your purchases

It’s all to easy just to browse endless random items and buy lots of tat when it’s Prime Day, however Amazon have a system that allows you to add products to a “wish list”. If you have time to do this ahead of the big sale, why not? Take some time on the sofa and build yourself a list of items you actually want. It means you can very quickly scan down the list of products you are most interested in and see if any Prime Day discount is applied.

  3. Watch the Amazon Lightening Deals early

Some deals during Amazon Prime will be there for the full 48 hour duration, others are only available for a short period of time, and others have a limit – ie. only a certain number are available to purchase at that price and when they’re gone, they’re gone. You need to keep an eye on the Amazon Deals section as these change frequently. Note that deals often start early, ahead of Prime Day…and there can be new ones added every 5 minutes!

  4. Download the Amazon app

In some cases, the app gives you advance notice of Lightning Deals before they become available on Amazon Prime. The app will also let you sign up for alerts and create “Watch a Deal” lists, so you can get notifications when a Prime deal is about to go live.

  5. Join the ‘wait list’ if a Prime deal has sold out

Amazon Prime deals have limited availability and sell out fast, however “sold out” does not always mean ‘sold out’. Amazon puts products in a ‘sold out’ state when people have them in their baskets…but if they do not follow through with the purchases within 15 minutes, the product will become available again. By joining the wait list you will get a notification if this happens. Read all about it here.

So, remember to keep an eye on the Amazon Deals section as these change frequently and many deals start early, ahead of Prime Day. And don’t forget, you need to be an Amazon Prime member to qualify for the deals – get a free 30 day trial here.
